Summary

Under direction of the Manager, Market Operations Training, the Market Operations Instructor plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, administers, and evaluates training and development programs for SRP s power and gas marketers and their support analysis teams to ensure an ongoing ability to conduct reliable and economic operations.This role is responsible for the execution of Supply, Trading and Fuel s (STF) training strategies and plans to achieve operating objectives, ensuring that department personnel understand and have the ongoing ability to carry out operations in accordance with NERC, WECC, and other applicable regulatory and contract requirements, including but not limited to CAISO Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM), CAISO Business Practice Manuals (BPMs), Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP), and SRP Power Purchase Agreements.

What You'll Do

• Implements and delivers continuous training for traders, support staff, and leadership to ensure an ongoing ability to conduct safe, reliable, and economic operations and meet compliance obligations with NERC standards, WECC regulations, CAISO WEIM tariff and BPMs, WRAP and any future markets in which SRP participates. 
• Prepares training including, but not limited to, one-on-one and group training courses, training materials (presentations, student guides, instructor guides, handouts), computer-based trainings, and simulation exercises.
• Collaborates with TGO/AGC operators and dispatchers, analysts, and engineers as well as stakeholders at all levels to ensure training promotes corporate goals and objectives and supports effective business unit operations.
• Develops and provides training and continuing education using a variety of instructional media including Computer-Based Training (CBT), simulations, field visits, or classroom discussion.
• Maintains training resource library for self-service learning and develops and administers role-based curriculum for onboarding new employees.
• Collaborates with other departments as well as external organizations to develop training materials that leverage resources and expertise to create an effective program.
• Assist manager in monitoring performance metrics to ensure the quality, effectiveness, and relevance of the training programs are met and measured against employee performance.
• Documents and maintains records of all required compliance evidence documentation.
• Recommends relevant technology for training processes and presents training in most effect formats such as in the classroom, on-the-job, virtual, and simulation settings.
• Participates in SRP initiatives that will impact the work processes of STF staff.
• Participates in industry‐related training and other activities to remain abreast of industry standards.
• Prepares technical reports and delivers technical presentations to support performance results of projects and processes.
• Communicates effectively with peers, management, and other SRP departments on training sessions, training delivery, and technology‐based solutions as applicable.
• Leads various projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
  
   

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered. 

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

• Preference will be given to applicants with directly related technical electric utility operating or trading experience, such as Power Trading, Gas Trading, Organized Market Operations, Power Dispatcher, Power Plant Control Room Operator, or Power Settlements Analyst.
• Prefer experience in electric system or market operations training and applying a systematic approach to training.
• Proven ability to convert complex business processes, market rules, and operational procedures into clear, accurate, and user-friendly training materials. Candidates should be comfortable leveraging emerging technologies, learning platforms, and digital content development tools to support effective knowledge transfer
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform multiple assignments concurrently and under pressure.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
